A popular Scottish action house has opened a 1,000 sq ft extension to cater for increased interest in its sales.
The new building at Thomson Roddick Callan’s Auction Centre in Rosewell, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, was created to provide more space for storing and selling items, reflecting the growing popularity of its auctions.
Thomson Roddick Callan’s Managing Director, Sybelle Thomson, the star of TV series The Edinburgh Auction House, said: “The new extension is wonderful. It’s a great space for our Edinburgh auctions.

“The popularity of our auctions across all of our four sites in Scotland and England continues to rise, for audiences both locally and globally online. We need more space in our Edinburgh saleroom to store and display items in our upcoming sales.
“The early feedback from our customers has been extremely positive and we see this substantial extension as a way of making sure we can keep up with demand and get more items seen by global audiences.”
The first sales in the new space was Thomson Roddick Callan’s Antique & Specialist Auction and the Collector’s Auction held the following day.
Edinburgh Auction Centre hosts around 30 auctions each year. These include the fortnightly Home Furnishing and Interiors auctions, as well as the specialist Antiques and Collectors sales.
Thomson Roddick Callan’s auction business has grown significantly in recent years. Since a merger with Thomas R Callan of Ayr in 2022, it now has sites in Rosewell, Ayr and Dumfries in Scotland. The firm also has an auction centre in Carlisle.
