A pioneering construction business is creating new employment opportunities after securing a major long-term contract with a social housing provider.
Blackpool-based Evolution has been appointed by Blackpool Coastal Housing as the sole delivery partner for electrical maintenance and improvement works across its 5,000-strong housing portfolio in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
Evolution was selected for its successful track record of partnership working with local authorities and housing providers and its high standard of work on commercial properties, social housing and new-build developments.

JJ Fitzgerald, the Managing Director of Evolution, said: “This contract win represents one of the largest single contracts we have secured since the business was formed in 2012 so is a huge milestone for us.
“Our team demonstrates time and time again the highest standards of work in every task they complete, and we are proud that this has been recognised by such a major public sector organisation as Blackpool Coastal Housing.
“We are very excited to be working in partnership with the housing association to provide a service which will improve the lives of many people across the Blackpool and Fylde Coast areas and that will showcase the talent we have across our business.”
The long-term contract win coincides with a number of other big projects Evolution has been appointed to carry out, ensuring 2026, and beyond, will be a busy one for the firm.
To help deliver its recent project wins on the Fylde Coast, the company is expanding the team and recruiting five electricians, a planner and an Electrical Quality Supervisor. With multiple new contracts secured across the area, these roles will strengthen Evolutions’ delivery capacity and maintain high standards.
JJ said: “Evolution has grown significantly over the past few years and, as we secure more contracts, we need to grow our team accordingly.
“These latest wins will allow us to provide the team with more development opportunities, meaning we can deliver work of an even higher standard. It will also allow us to create career opportunities and more work experience placements for college or school leavers and unemployed residents, which is something we are extremely passionate about supporting.”
Evolution has also committed to an extensive programme of social value work as part of the contract win, which includes career inspiration sessions, hundreds of hours of volunteering time, an increased number of work experience placement, DIY and home maintenance training for care leavers and annual fundraising events for local charities.
Starting as a one-man band in 2012, Evolution now employs more than 80 members of staff.
