Independent insurance broker strengthens senior team with new recruits

A LEADING independent insurance broker has made three key appointments as part of ongoing expansion plans.

The move by H&H Insurance Brokers (HHIB), which operates across the North of England, the south of Scotland and Wales, signals an investment in the future through strengthening its presence across its regional bases and bringing further expertise into the business.

The new recruits are Craig Dickson and David Murchie who join the firm as Account Executives, and Mary Ballard who will work in business development while training to become an Account Executive. 

Working out of HHIB’s office in Newtown St Boswells, Craig will cover the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland, while David will work with clients in Dumfries and Galloway and across the south west Scotland region.

Mary will be based at the head office in Carlisle, focusing on building new client relationships and using her experience in the commercial sector to support business growth.

Paul Graham, Managing Director of HHIB, said: “Having the right team in place is vital to our commitment to continually moving the business forward and building on our success.

“The depth and breadth of experience which Craig, David and Mary bring to the team is fantastic and we’re delighted that they are now part of the HHIB story.”

In the recently published annual results from its holding company, H&H Group, H&H Insurance Brokers reported another strong and consistent year. The results showed that HHIB, which is one of five subsidiary companies of H&H Group, continued to invest in people and geographical expansion, building more success on solid foundations.

Craig brings several years of experience in the insurance sector to HHIB, having previously worked for a regional broker and for NFU Mutual.

He said: “The whole ethos behind account executives at HHIB being trusted advisors for their clients is something which really resonated with me. It’s all about building trust and making sure you look after your clients so they can have peace of mind when it comes to insurance.”

David joins HHIB from the NFU Mutual where he worked as an agent based at Stranraer,  specialising in agricultural and commercial insurance. He will work alongside HHIB Account Executive Edith Jones in the south west Scotland region.

David said: “Having grown up on a farm, agriculture has always been a part of my life and joining HHIB really feels like I am going back to my roots. I’m delighted to be part of the team and to continue to deliver a brilliant service for clients.”

Mary brings a wealth of connections and business expertise to her combined role of Business Development Executive and trainee Account Executive, specialising in commercial insurance. She joins HHIB from Cumbria Chamber of Commerce where she supported firms across Cumbria.

She said: “I’m all about people which is what drew me to the role. I’m really excited about the opportunity to use my experience as part of the HHIB team.”
